voice and had a scholorship to go to collage but he passed it by and regretted it..... he always said shoot for the stars
sis and you'll make it ...Don't give up on your dreams or mine.... He passed away on September 11,2005 and i made him a promise
to sing for the lord and to use my voice for the Lord and his praises...so you see this is the promise I made...
Mike's Promise He Made
I began singing early in life, by the time I had made it too the fourth
grade, I had already been in a church youth choir and involved in my school choir. At the age of 11 my father was no longer
living with us and my mother began taking us to church with our grandmother. Now mind you this church was totally different
from what I was used too, because when my father lived with us we went to a Baptist church. Now this new church, a small Church
of Christ in West Virginia, did not use music when they sang hymms. Now this is where my voice really began to shine, at 11
years old my voice had not began to break yet or too deepen so I sang a high Alto tune. Many a sunday I sang louder than even
the song leader of that little church. A few short months later my mother lying in a hospital bed very ill made me make a
promise too her, you see she knew her time on this earth was near to being finished and that she was going to be with her
heavenly father very soon and was going to begin his work as one of his angels before she even departed this earth, she made
me promise that I would continue to sing. Now there was more to this promise than even I realized at that time. Through the
years I have sang here and there and in a few churches along the way but never to the potential of that promise. Then one
day while lyiing in my bed broken and defeated I closed my eyes and prayed, I prayed father in heaven who gave his son so
I might live, what is your bidding what is it you want me too do, and I heard my mothers voice in responce "keep your promise".
You see not only was my promise to my mother to continue to sing, but I also promised God to use the talent of my voice to
praise him. So you see these are my Promises Made.
